Can you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about your role at TGM?
My name is Kamil, and I’m from Poland. I’ve been working in the research industry for 15 years, primarily in the Scripting Department, where I was responsible for preparing surveys for execution. I started my career as a Fieldwork Manager and joined TGM in January 2020 as a Scripter. My ambition to grow led me to convince my boss to promote me to Project Manager, and after three years in that role, I became the Fieldwork Director, where I now lead an incredible team. It’s been an exciting journey, and I’m proud of the impact we’re making.
What does a typical day in your life look like?
Managing projects on a global scale comes with its share of daily challenges, so I’m always on the lookout for new solutions to ensure we deliver on time while maintaining the highest data quality. My day typically involves overseeing the Fieldwork, Quality, and Helpdesk teams, providing support and guidance as they handle their daily tasks. I regularly review project progress, identifying potential bottlenecks early to prevent delays. A key part of my role is troubleshooting issues and mentoring the team on the intricacies of project management, ensuring that we continuously improve and meet our goals.
What’s your best piece of advice for succeeding in fieldwork management?
To succeed in fieldwork management, patience is essential, but it must be paired with a clear vision and a solid plan. It's not just about believing in the plan’s success yourself—you need to inspire your team to share that belief. Everyone should be on the same page, trusting that the goals are realistic and, through collaboration and persistence, challenges can be overcome. Consistent communication plays a crucial role in keeping everyone aligned and ensuring they understand how their individual efforts contribute to the bigger picture.
