Step Up and Give a Hand: A Journey of Compassion, Teamwork, and Impact

At TGM Research, we believe that doing business with heart is just as important as driving results. Our recent charity initiative, Step Up and Give a Hand, proved just that—bringing together our global team in an extraordinary display of solidarity, generosity, and determination.

In collaboration with MakeYourAsia (MYA) and Vulcan Augmetics, we embarked on a mission to raise funds for a prosthetic arm for Loan, a courageous woman whose journey has been nothing short of inspiring.

But what started as a simple fundraising effort quickly grew into something bigger. Thanks to the enthusiastic participation of our team, we not only reached our goal ahead of schedule but also raised enough to donate an additional prosthetic arm.

This moment was a powerful testament to the impact of collective action.

Alongside Loan, we were proud to see a second recipient receive her prosthetic arm - a moment made possible entirely by the collective effort of everyone who joined the challenge. Watching her begin to adapt to daily life with her new arm was a moving reminder of why we started this initiative in the first place: to help people not only regain independence, but also embrace life with greater ease and confidence.

Three years ago, we started Shine a Light with a simple goal: to create real impact beyond business. It began with small acts of kindness within our TGM Vietnam team, where we gathered clothes and donations for children in need. However, these efforts were largely local, limiting participation from our global team.

This year, we wanted to do something more impactful, more inclusive, and bring our entire global team together for a shared purpose.

That’s how Step Up and Give a Hand was born. The idea was simple: if all participants collectively completed 10,000,000 steps over 1.5 months, they would unlock a monetary contribution from both TGM and MYA towards Loan’s prosthetic arm.

The Walking Challenge: Strength in Every Step

During this period, employees from companies participated in walking, running, and moving—not just for fitness, but for a purpose. With every step we took, we came closer to changing a life. The response was overwhelming:

We didn’t just complete the challenge... we finished a whole week ahead of schedule! The enthusiasm, commitment, and shared purpose of our employees proved that when we work together, nothing is out of reach.

The culmination of our efforts came to life in the prosthetic arm fitting ceremony. It was an emotional moment as Loan tested her new arm for the first time, experiencing newfound mobility and possibilities.

Even more moving was the fact that, thanks to the incredible participation of our team, we were able to go beyond our original goal and provide a second prosthetic arm to another woman in need. Seeing both recipients begin their new journeys with renewed independence was a powerful reminder of the difference collective action can make.

For many of us, this was more than just a CSR initiative. It was a profound realization that small actions, when combined, create monumental change.

Step Up and Give a Hand was more than just a charity initiative, it was a reflection of who we are. At our core, we believe in creating meaningful change beyond business, and this initiative reaffirmed our commitment to compassion, unity, and action.
